What Performance Specifications does IFD Technology meet?
USDOD MIL-PRF-32516  Electronic test equipment, intermittent fault detection and isolation for chassis and backplane conductive paths

The Intermittent Fault Detection capabilities of the VIFD and IFDIS testers pass all 3 of these specifications.  In the USDoD's MIL-PRF-32516 trial in 2016 our IFD testers' detection capability passed the most stringent test, MIL-PRF-32516 Category 1: "Short duration intermittent faults that are under 100 nanoseconds across all LRU/WRA backplane circuits and associated wire harnesses".

Our IFD testers test  for discontinuity across all circuit simultaneously, and without the need for daisy-chaining circuits or complex ITAs; thus this testing solution, provides a unique capability to isolate a fault  to a specific circuit without further ’splitting of the system’.  IFD testing monitors all the circuits at the same time, without the need for loop resistance test and so IFD testing provides 100% test coverage, and detects  interruptions of circuit continuity of less than 50nsec for resistance of 1-10 Ohms (depending on the total resistance of each of the individual circuits under test).

Therefore, our IFD testers far exceed the requirements of EIA-364-46B  and also meet the requirements detailed in EIA-364-87 (Test Condition F, 50nsec).  Note that both testing requirements can be carried out at the same time without any compromise to either requirement.

For VIFD up to 512 individual circuits can be tested simultaneously, and for IFDIS up to 16384 test points.
